Heater and Electrical
- The buy box offers five heaters: four electric heaters of about 10 kW (Saunum Air L 10, Harvia Club K10G, Harvia Cilindro PC110E and HUUM Hive Mini 11) and the SaunaLife Titan SL1, a propane heater that runs from a standard tank and needs no electrical wiring. SaunaLife retailers recommend anywhere from 8 to 9 kW up to the 13 kW Saunum Air L 13 for this cabin. If you already have a heater, choose the sauna on its own.
- Interior volume is about 306 cu ft (8.7 m3), calculated from the 87.5 x 70.8 x 85.5 in interior. The full glass front loses heat faster than wood, so check the heater's room-size range against its maker's glass allowance.
- Some of these heaters run from a separate wall control panel. The heater guide in the buy box says which ones. For the propane Titan SL1, follow its manual for placement and ventilation.
- SaunaLife's manual warns that the included heater guard may not meet every heater's safety distances. If it does not fit your heater, do not use it.
- The electric heaters need a 240V hardwired circuit. Confirm the voltage and breaker size on the heater you choose, and have a licensed electrician do the heater and lighting wiring, as SaunaLife's manual requires.
Assembly and Delivery
- Arrives as a do-it-yourself kit on one wooden pallet, 2,040 lbs, by LTL freight. Delivery is by appointment: the driver delivers curbside only and lowers the pallet to ground level, and the parts are moved to the build site by hand.
- SaunaLife's manual lists these tools: circular saw, measuring tape, marker pen, water level, drill, crescent wrench, utility knife, rubber mallet, ratchet strap, hammer, screwdriver, and extra hands.
- Set the cabin on a stable, level foundation so the door closes properly, and keep the wood out of standing water.
- Read before you order: CL7G installation manual, LED light system installation manual, SaunaLife limited lifetime warranty. These are SaunaLife's own documents.
Care and Maintenance
- SaunaLife's manual calls for a wood preservative at least once a year, and recommends treating all wooden parts after assembly. Plan for that annual coat. On the Black finish, follow the paint's own manual, paint the outside only, never the hot room, and recoat as the color wears.
- First heating: SaunaLife specifies a supervised first heating of two hours to about 210°F (99°C), well ventilated, so the wood can form a protective layer.
- Throw water only on the heater stones, never on the walls or benches. Avoid paints, varnishes, harsh disinfectants and pressure washers.
- Wood is a natural material and may crack or warp slightly as temperature changes. SaunaLife describes this as normal.
- Check the bench mountings and door hinges from time to time. The manual gives a hinge adjustment that uses two metric hex keys (3 mm and 5 mm).
