Mito MitoMIN 2.0 — Targeted Red Light Panel Sale price$308.35
Overview

Targeted panel for one area at a time. 60 LEDs at 660nm and 850nm, 85W, with a built-in kickstand.

Sized for a single region rather than the whole body — face, neck, one shoulder, a knee, the lower back, or hands. The 180-degree kickstand is built in, so it stands on a desk or a bench without an accessory.

Two Irradiance Numbers, Both Printed

Mito publishes irradiance measured two ways, and they differ by more than double. A consumer solar meter reads high on an LED array because it is calibrated for broad-spectrum sunlight, not for two narrow bands. A laboratory spectroradiometer is the figure to compare across brands. Both are listed in the specifications below — the lower number is not a weakness, it is the one measured properly.

HOW A SESSION RUNS

A session, start to finish.

Nothing to plumb, nothing to drain, nothing to schedule around.

  1. Position

Six inches is the reference distance for the published irradiance. The built-in kickstand pivots 180 degrees, so a desk or a bench works.

  2. Run

Ten to twenty minutes on the digital timer. Red only, near-infrared only, or both — near-infrared penetrates deeper, red works nearer the surface.

  3. Move on

One region per session is the design intent. This is a targeted panel, not a full-body one.

The honest irradiance number

Mito publishes two figures: over 115 mW/cm² on a consumer meter and over 52 mW/cm² on a laboratory spectroradiometer. The second one is the number to compare across brands — consumer meters read high on narrow-band LEDs because they are calibrated for sunlight.

FAQ

How far away should I sit?

Six inches is the distance the published irradiance is measured at. Further away means less energy at the skin and a longer session for the same dose.

Why are two irradiance numbers listed?

Because they measure different things. A consumer solar meter is calibrated for broad-spectrum sunlight and reads high on two narrow LED bands. A laboratory spectroradiometer is the honest comparison figure. Both are printed here; the lower one is the properly measured one.

Red, near-infrared, or both?

660nm red is absorbed nearer the surface and 850nm near-infrared travels deeper. The panel runs either alone or both together, so the choice is yours rather than the manufacturer's.

Is this big enough for full-body use?

No, and it is not meant to be. At 12 by 9 inches it covers one region at a time. The MitoMAX and MitoMEGA are the full-body panels in this range.

Do I need eye protection?

The LEDs are bright and staring into them is uncomfortable and unnecessary. Close your eyes or look away when treating the face.

Is it safe to use every day?

Red and near-infrared light is non-ionising and does not tan or burn, but do not stare directly into the LEDs. Consult a physician before use if you take photosensitising medication, have a history of skin cancer, or are managing a thyroid condition. Eye protection is supplied with some panels and is sensible at close range.
